Let's Go Red Wings

Have you heard? The Detroit Red Wings made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year once again! And they're playing the Pittsburgh Penguins once again. We're up two games to none so only two more wins for us and the Cup is ours again! It's fine if we lose one in Pittsburgh because then they can win one in Pittsburgh and come back to Detroit to win the Cup here!

OK, time to update

So...Friday I got a haircut. I decided to go with bangs again. I got bangs like 2 years ago and I really liked it, but I decided to keep my hair long this time. She said she was going to cut off about 3 inches (which was fine with me since my hair was pretty long) but I think she cut off more than that. Doesn't matter though because I like it. I really like the way she layered it. It's weird though, I'm still getting used to the bangs.

Saturday morning I went to Eastern Market with my mom and Jill. Jill and I had never been and I brought up the idea, so we just decided to go. It was cool...I didn't go crazy buying a bunch of stuff, but I did get some cool pictures.

After we got back from Eastern Market, I went to my parents house to help price stuff for their garage sale. I have a bunch of my own stuff in their sale so I mainly went there to price my own crap. I was there til about 3:30 and then went home. Then Jim and I went to a nursery to get some flowers for the pots for out patio. And I just realized I haven't taken a picture of them yet! I'll have to update that later.

It was Jim's turn to make dinner and he found a recipe for Pasta with Pumpkin and Sausage which was so delish! Then we plopped our butts down on the couch for the rest of the night to catch up on some of our shows on the DVR.

Sunday we celebrated a belated Mother's Day dinner at my parents house. Prime rib was on the menu, can we say yum? We also watched the Red Wings beat the Chicago Blackhawks in the first game of the Western Conference Finals. Good stuff.
It was a good weekend.

It was a busy weekend

This past weekend was pretty busy. Saturday night I went to my friend Lisa's bachelorette party - the wedding is May 22nd. We had a good time. Started out at a house and played some ridiculous penis ring toss game...

...cute right? lol

Then we hopped on the giant limo bus and headed to the bar.

...of course the "sexy" pose lol

...I'm seriously getting too old for that crap though. I got home around 3am and then got up at 9:30 the next morning to go out to breakfast before we went to the Wings game. Playoff hockey baby!!

I wish these dudes would have sat down already. Don't they know they ruined my shot?!?!

...and this is what happens after two overtimes and waiting for the third to start

Unfortunately we lost, but it was about a 5 hour hockey game, so we got our money's worth...lol.

Where milk rings go to die

Last night I was on the hunt for some little toy mice that we had given to our cats. I was looking under all the furniture, ya know...where all the toys end up after being played with. Well we have this old bar/hutch/server (not sure what it's called) thing in our house. It's on wheels so it's lifted up off the floor a little.

I pulled that thing away from the wall and holy crap! So that's where all the milk rings went!

There's 35 milk rings in that picture, and while they weren't ALL under the bar/server/hutch half of them were, with the other half being strewn about the house. Pretty impressive huh? Oh and the little toy mice were under there too.

Before I went on my hunt for toy mice and milk rings, we attended the Red Wings game. I'm glad it was a good game and that we won, because we had to go out in the crappy weather to get there. What normally takes us about 30 minutes to get to, took us an hour. Not too bad though considering it was still snowing and the roads hadn't been plowed yet.

Ready for the weekend

TGIF! Actually, for this being my first full week back to work, it wasn't too bad. It went by pretty fast. But as I sit here, knowing I have two hours left of work, I swear time is in reverse! I probably shouldn't even be blogging on work time, but it's Friday afternoon, everyone else is already gone, and I'm sort of in a standstill position with a few of the items I'm working on as I'm waiting for other people to respond so I can move forward.

Last night was my first night back to bowling after three weeks off AND it was position round. How nice for a position round to be played after everyone has been off for 2-3 weeks. But, apparently that didn't matter for me. I have a 155 average and bowled a 208, 147, and a 179. Not too shabby for being a little out of practice. And we took 6 out of 8 points so I think we ended up in 3rd or 4th place for the first half. MUCH better than last year considering we ended up in 17th place the first half of last year...lol.

Oh and then I had to get gas on the way home. I was going to stop at this one particular gas station, but then I remembered how slow their pumps are, so I stopped at a different gas station. Oh sweet lord!! Big mistake! This was the slowest gas pump I have ever used in my entire life! I swear I was there for like 10 minutes! You know how normally the numbers whiz by so fast you can't even see them? Oh no...not this time. I could clearly read the numbers in the hundredths spot on the gas gauge. That's ridiculous! But...I didn't really have anywhere to be so I just filled her up...all 18 gallons worth. And why are gas prices going up again? Can we say annoying?!?!

Tomorrow Jim and I are going to the Red Wings game to see our Stanley Cup Champs!!

I'm pretty excited since this is the first game we've gone to all season! By now we've usually gone to like 2-4 games already. I wanted to get Jim tickets for his birthday, but Ticketmaster had only corner seats left and we always sit there, so I kind of wanted to get better seats. So I went to StubHub, knowing that the prices were going to be jacked up, just to see what I could get. Well for two, upper bowl, non-corner seats, it would have been $175 for two tickets! I was so close to buying them but just couldn't do it. So a few days later, a guy at work puts out an email that he has two tickets for tomorrow's game, pretty much the same seats I was looking at, and only $90 for two tickets. It's just nice that he only charges face value for the tickets. I just hope the traffic doesn't suck getting down there. The auto show doesn't officially start until the 11th, but ya just never know when it comes to driving and parking in Detroit.

So that will pretty much be the highlight of our weekend. Don't get me wrong...tonight's grocery shopping will be quite electrifying, and will definitely be hard to top, but I'm thinking the Wings can probably trump our grocery shopping trip.

Have a good weekend!

Gotta love those Detroit Red Wings

A nice perk about the job sometimes is unexpected visitors. I found out the day before, that a few of the Wings players were going to stop by and bring the Stanley Cup with them! Of course I went! I've never been able to go to an autograph signing or anything so I was pretty excited. Below are a few pics. It was so awesome!

Here's the guys (Osgood, Cleary, Lebda and Draper) during the question and answer session

I finally got to touch the Cup!

Cleary and I - such a nice guy

Ozzy and I - awesome goalie

Lebda and I - yummy!!

We got the cup baby!!

So Stanley's back home, back in Hockeytown where it belongs. We were out at a bar watching the game with a bunch of other crazy Wings fans and it was a blast! I would have liked to go to the parade today, but 1) Jim couldn't get the day off of work and 2) it's pretty effin hot out there and I don't think I would have been able to handle it. I'm not a big fan of heat...especially when it's so humid too.

Please no OT tonight...

...I don't think I can stay up and watch another 3 overtimes again. But the Wings have to do it tonight...a game 7 is just too nerve-wracking. Now we need to figure out where we're going to watch the game tonight. Back to Joe Vision, or somewhere else? Who knows.

GO WINGS!!

GO WINGS GO!!

So Jim and I decided to head to Joe Vision last night. That's where we pay $5 to go to Joe Louis Arena and watch the hockey game on the screen at center ice, with a bunch of other crazy Wings fans. Man that place was crazy! I swear it was louder in there last night that it is during a game. Although I wouldn't really know since I've never been to a Stanley Cup playoff game. I guess I can't really justify spending at least $100 on one ticket...and those are the crappy seats.

A few pics from last night's game

An awesome save by Ozzy

And an awesome shot by Zetterberg
The Wings will win the cup on Monday!! GO WINGS!!

No sweep for Detroit

Ok, so I realize it was asking a little much for the Wings to sweep two rounds in a row, but with the way they've have been playing, I don't think it was that far off. So we didn't sweep the Dallas Stars and game five will come back to Detroit, but that's fine...we'll just end it then. Of course there were some horrible calls by the refs last night which I believe attributed to the Stars' win, but whatever. Apparently they felt it necessary to "make up for" a bad call that was made earlier in the series. Nice...I don't think two wrongs make a right.

WINGS IN 5!!

Let's Go Red Wings

Alas, once again the Red Wings crushed the Dallas Stars last night in a 5-2 victory. Only one more win and the Wings will move onto the Stanley Cup playoffs. The last time the Wings made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs (2002), they won it.

And also once again my dinner did not turn out as I thought it would.
Jim is usually the cook in our house, but every now and then it's my job to make dinner. Once in awhile I'm able to pull something out of my hat, but last night wasn't the night. It wasn't horrible, but it could have been better. We're big asparagus eaters so I decided to try something different and saute some asparagus in a little olive oil and some garlic. I don't know if we had a bad batch of asparagus or what, but they were definitely NOT as tasty as they usually are. Onto my next cooking disaster...
