The treadmill is better for me

So after last Monday's C25K run on the treadmill, I was proud of myself for finishing it relatively easy, and was excited to move on. Well the rest of the week sucked. Wednesday was when I ran into the dreaded side stitch, and then Saturday it was just so hot outside that I think I only made it 20 minutes.

Well today I ran again on the treadmill and had no problems. So I think that's the solution...run on the treadmill for now. I don't know what it is, but it feels like when I run outside, I'm not going anywhere. I know that sounds stupid since on a treadmill I'm running in place, but at least I can see the number of laps and the distance increase. Outside, I have no idea how far or how fast I'm going.

So I think for now I'm going to stick with the treadmill and then maybe once I'm able to run longer distances, I'll head back outside. But I really hate the heat. I mean really. I'm in Michigan so you'd think I would love the summers, but I don't really like being outside in the sun if it's over 80 degrees. Ridiculous right? lol, oh well.

I am exactly the same! I think I actually push harder on the treadmill! For me, allergies play a big role.

A couple friends and I have been walking daily around the neighborhood. As the temperature rises (Alabama here, it's going to just keep getting hotter!) I'm not sure what we're going to do. It's mearly April and we're already sweating to death.
The only success I've ever had on a treadmill was at my college apt. The fitness room looked out onto the pool. Nothing like a gorgeous pool and bikini clad bodies for motivation!

I agree that it's definitely harder to pace yourself outside than on a treadmill - however, I think that running outside is SO much harder for me that I know I get a better workout. Plus, there are the hills and whatnot, although you can simulate those with an incline on a treadmill. I am training for a 5k right now, and promised myself NO treadmill running unless there was some extremely inclement weather going on...of course, on Monday, I ran 2.75 outside and had never sweat so much in my life. And, oh yeah, it's only April, and I'm in the midwest, too. Sigh. This will clearly be a rough summer!

yeah the treadmill is always easier, on your joints and the motion of the belt actually propels you forward- unlike the concrete. I usually can only do half outside what I do on the treadmill.
