The Brave Little Toaster

I LOVED this movie when I was little. I came across it on TV the other day, so you know I stopped and watched it. Anyone else ever seen this movie? Most people I know look at me like I have three heads when I mention this movie.

At the bar

So my sister told me she was working at the bar last night and that we should come up and have a beer or two. Well of course I knew that Jim probably wouldn't be up for it, but I asked anyway...he gave me the dreaded, "We'll see", which we all know means no. So at like 9:45 I get a call from Mel who I haven't talked to in forever (but was thinking about calling earlier, how strange) and wants to know what we're doing. I tell her about the bar and we decide to meet up. Jim decided to go since it wasn't just going to be me and him. I don't know, it's strange, but it's soooooo boring for just me and Jim to go to the bar and it seems like we really don't have anyone that we can just call up and say, "hey let's go meet for a drink". Whatever...we ended up seeing a few other people up there so it was fun.

Oh, and of course I had my camera, because I always have my camera...so here's a few pics.

Homegrown

Seriously...is there anything better than a homegrown tomato? Unfortunately we don't have the space for a garden, but my parents do and the tomatoes are finally turning red. I had my first homegrown tomato of the year tonight and I just had to share it with everyone. Just a little salt and pepper and then dive in. Doesn't it look delicious? YUM!

The Omnivore Hundred

I saw this posted on a message board and thought it would be interesting. The Omnivore's Hundred is an eclectic and entirely subjective list of 100 items that Andrew Wheeler, co-author of the British food blog Very Good Taste, thinks every omnivore should try at least once in his life.

1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional extra: Post a comment here at http://www.verygoodtaste.co.uk/ linking to your results.

Someday I'll have it

So I have it figured out and our credit card will be paid off sometime in November and then we (well mostly I) can finally reward ourselves (myself) with a new fancy schmancy digital camera. The Canon Rebel XSi is probably what I'll get. I haven't done too much research, but it looks like it comes with a pretty common starter lens which will be fine while I try and figure out how to use the camera...lol. And maybe so close to Christmas I'll be able to find an awesome deal. Maybe even the day after Thanksgiving I'll be able to find some crazy sale.

I've sort of also been considering the Canon EOS-40D, but that one costs a little bit more. Who knows...we'll see when the time comes.

Our future children

Well isn't this an interesting website. Just insert your pictures and out comes what your future kids will look like. Our future boy looks a little scary...that's not a very cute kid...lol.

Bullet for My Valentine

Went to the concert last night...it was a good show. We were able to catch a few songs from Bleeding Through which were better than I thought they were going to be. Of course Jim and my brother were sort of making fun of the show since it's wasn't their typical Cannibal Corpse/The Black Dahlia Murder/36 CrazyFists show. They said they had a good time though. My sister had a good time too which is nice since it's been awhile since she had been to a concert. Good times were had by all.

You know you want it

I hate it when I go through a magazine, jot down a bunch of things that I thought were cool or interesting and then the next day have no idea what I looked at or where the list went. Well I decided to start adding these things to my blog so I would know where to find them later on. So below are just a few things that peaked my interest in my last magazine reading session

Beach Blanket with Stakes
This I just might have to purchase for next summer

The Ultimate Guide to Grilling
Everything you need to know about grilling

Disc Sox
The perfect way to cut down on all the space your DVDs take up

File Tote
I just thought these file totes were too cute

Recycling Bags
These look like great bags if you have to sort your recycling. We're lucky enough to be able to put it all in one bin
These just look delicious

A steamer that will fit in any pot

I came across this blog starring Debi Mazur and her man and thought it was fun and interesting

Went to an amazing wedding

Ok, so it was almost a week ago, but I still wanted to comment on it. I've always wanted to go to a wedding like this, but just never thought I knew anybody that would have a wedding like this.

So you pull up to the place and it just looks like your typical hall. The ceremony was at 4:00 in the little chapel area there, and I think there’s was like 10 or 12 people standing up on each side, plus 4 or 5 little kids. Her dress was very pretty, not really my style, but pretty nonetheless.

Okay, so the ceremony is over and they’re moving us all into the hors d’oeuvres room. You figure, okay, a little cheese and crackers and some pop. Nope. Shrimp, mussels, crab claws, two long tables of food with calamari, coconut chicken, peppers and onions, etc., a pasta station! And they never ran out of food…they just kept bringing more out. I think my sister and dad went up like 5 times to get food and between me, my mom and my sister, we probably had about 20 glasses of champagne. It was really incredible.

Here's my sis enjoying the shrimp...

...and just a few cute pics of us

So FINALLY at like 7:15-7:30 we get moved into the dining room. I think there was something like 40 tables, so you figure about 400 people at the wedding. There was a slide show, a monogram with their names, a coffee bar, a full blown DJ and band, plated dinner with a sorbet course to cleanse the palette of course lol, and a pastry room. Like pretty much everything you could think of a wedding should have, it did. The ultimate fairy-tale wedding. There was also 6 limos to take the bridal party where they needed to go.

Here's the cake and fabulous pastry room

Here's the head table...
And just a few shots of the room...
Oh, and by the way...after writing this entry, I've realized now that the new shutterfly format sucks for adding pics to blogs. I'll be looking elsewhere to upload my pics.

i ♥ shoes

I mean, what girl doesn't? Actually I do know a few, but that's just crazy talk! lol

Anywho, I'm going to a wedding today, so you know I had to go and buy a new pair of shoes for the occasion. I told Jim, at least I'm not buying a new dress. So I went in for one pair and bought two...oops!

Here's the one's I'm wearing tonight

And then the other pair I bought

And then here's a couple more that I bought this summer

I guess I have to be good for awhile now...no more shoes for at least...oh...a month? LOL

Our week vacation

No, we didn't fly anywhere, but we did leave for a week. It was back up to our family cottage. I don't really have any good stories to tell, just wanted to post some more fun pics that I took.

Our friends were up for the first weekend, so here's the girls hanging by the campfire

Just some fun ring shots

And let the nature pics begin...

This is Big 10. She's on her way out and that's sad.

Some pics of me and the boy...
