Hey...no echo

So our bathroom finally has stuff on the walls and no more echo...lol. So much better now...it's purty.

Pretty flowers

So this Memorial Day I planted some Impantiens in two flower pots to try and spruce up the front porch area. We don't have a lot of room for plants, but I had to do something.

We're also growing some herbs...at least we're going to try. We don't get much sunlight, so we'll see how those turn out.

Back from Vegas...

...of course it was for a work meeting, but hey, we had a good time. Flew out Wednesday afternoon and came back Friday evening. Thursday was for work...meeting in the morning, then a tour, and then done by 2:30. That left some time for shopping (bought a new purse and some shoes) and then off to the strip. I'm not a gambler at all, so nothing exciting there. I think we walked a good 5 miles that night. And thank god it wasn't the 105 degrees it was a few days before I got there. I don't think I know how to dress for 105 degree weather...lol. It was in the 70's so it was perfect.

And don't I look hot in a hard hat?

Ah, a fresh coat of paint

Our main bathroom has been stark white since we moved in about 4.5 years ago. Friday afternoon I sprung it on the hubster that I wanted to paint that bathroom since the weekend was supposed to be kind of rainy. Of course I had no idea what color I wanted, we had supplies to buy, dinner to eat, sanding, spackling and taping to do...needless to say we didn't finish the prep work until around 11:00 p.m. I mean that's not horrible, the bathroom isn't that big.

So Saturday while he was at work in the morning, I did some more sanding and put up a coat of Kilz primer. He got home and we watched the Red Wings lose, and then it was onto the first coat of paint.

We finished the second coat today and then Jim put the new light up, and all the fixtures back on the walls. I want to get new outlet covers though.

The color is called Crystalline, by Valspar:

Here's the bathroom before:

And with the new paint:

Here's the new light:

It still needs some work, like maybe new towels, new outlet covers, and definitely something to go over the toilet. But I'm happy with the new color.

Finally a yummy dinner!

It happened...I made a yummy dinner tonight. I have a feeling once we move into a larger home, with a much bigger kitchen, I'll actually enjoy cooking a lot more. But for now I have to deal with what we have. Here's what tonight's dinner looked like.

You can find the recipes in my cooking blog, Time For Chow.

Nothing Else Matters...

...what does that mean anyway? Well it's actually a Metallica song, and was also our first dance song at our wedding. We never really had a "song", so we just started thinking about slow songs that we both kind of liked. Initially we were going to use a Journey song, but when I remembered this song, I just said, that's it! It's perfect! It's so us! Plus we're rockers, so that's another reason why it worked.

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us, something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know

So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters

TV Shows I can't get enough of

No sweep for Detroit

Ok, so I realize it was asking a little much for the Wings to sweep two rounds in a row, but with the way they've have been playing, I don't think it was that far off. So we didn't sweep the Dallas Stars and game five will come back to Detroit, but that's fine...we'll just end it then. Of course there were some horrible calls by the refs last night which I believe attributed to the Stars' win, but whatever. Apparently they felt it necessary to "make up for" a bad call that was made earlier in the series. Nice...I don't think two wrongs make a right.

WINGS IN 5!!

A somewhat recent buy

When we purchase or do anything to our condo, we try to keep in mind the whole "staging" look for when we try to sell...which will hopefully be by the end of this year / beginning of the next. We had a full size couch in our living room, and along with the loveseat, it was just too much furniture. We bought two of these chairs from Target

and now our living room looks like it has much more space

Let's Go Red Wings

Alas, once again the Red Wings crushed the Dallas Stars last night in a 5-2 victory. Only one more win and the Wings will move onto the Stanley Cup playoffs. The last time the Wings made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs (2002), they won it.

And also once again my dinner did not turn out as I thought it would.
Jim is usually the cook in our house, but every now and then it's my job to make dinner. Once in awhile I'm able to pull something out of my hat, but last night wasn't the night. It wasn't horrible, but it could have been better. We're big asparagus eaters so I decided to try something different and saute some asparagus in a little olive oil and some garlic. I don't know if we had a bad batch of asparagus or what, but they were definitely NOT as tasty as they usually are. Onto my next cooking disaster...
